Shawn and Bert’s love story begins with another love story…. Four years ago, Shawn’s sister Jenn was planning her very own wedding. She and her fiancé Russ thought it would be a good idea for the best man and the maid of honor to meet each other before the wedding day, so it wouldn’t be totally awkward. They planned a 4th of July barbecue and invited the “two single people”…. Ha! I’m not sure if I completely believe that they weren’t trying to set them up, but hey.. If Jenn says so…. 🙂

At the party, Shawn and Bert hit off and they have been together ever since… I joked with Jenn about how convenient that has to be for them. There was no awkward getting to know each other period. When the four of them hang out, Jenn gets to be with her sister and Russ gets to be with his best friend! How perfect!!

The wedding took place at a private residence in Asheville, NC. Bert and his friends got ready at the Homewood Suites by Hilton. Shawn and the girls enjoyed the backdrop of the Smoky Mountains as they got ready for the day. Shawn’s mother’s home sits high on top of a mountain with a breathtaking view! You may remember this view from their engagement session blog. I have joked many times about how I’m going to take a mini vacation at their home.

The day was perfect! Shawn was completely calm and laid back the entire day. She allotted so much bridal portrait time, I was definitely in Photographer heaven! A few of my favorite highlights of the day was listening to Bert tearfully share his vows with Shawn, Burt’s military uniform and Shawn’s pure joy and happiness throughout the day! Enjoy this couple and their gorgeous day!
